Spent the morning conversing with Abraham Rivers, reading, etc. In the afternoon, went to Evercreech, and preached in the open air to from 150 to 200 people. Some were looking at their Bibles to see if I said anything unscriptural, but I suppose they found that I did not, and then put them away. Others had quite a number of books in their hands. I laid the principles of the Gospel before them in plainness for about an hour, and had fair attention. I was accompanied by Bro. Rawlings and Mr. Rivers. Returned to Upton Noble, paid Sister Mary Tanner a short visit, and slept at Bro. Rawlings's.
