Had not mingled with the saints for some time. Had been sick, also. Found her with but little of gospel life. I preached reformation to her, and endeavored to create faith enough in her to cause her to renew her covenant. I left her feeling better, and promising to consider the matter. Returned to Sherborne, and slept at Sis. Burnett's.

Worked at Church accounts. Went to Stourton Caundle. Wrote 2 letters at Sister Lemon's. Visited Bro. Alford. Went to a place called Penzelwood, and sold some tracts, preaching to the people sometimes a half an hour, and sometimes an hour, to sell one. Returned to Bourton at 7 P.M. Visited a man by the name of Lush, a shoemaker, to whom I offerred some tracts. He spoke bitterly against the prophet Joseph, called our doctrine the doctrines of the devils, damnable doctrines.
